CTC youth preapprentices must be a minimum of 16 years old and have completed the 10th grade. They must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Application may take place anytime after the youth enters their 2nd semester of their sophomore year of high school. To enter the program, students must have a good record of school attendance and be on-track to graduate. CTC is an excellent vehicle for construction technology career exploration. As a part of the CTC curriculum, students also gain employability skills, occupational safety training, first aid and CPR techniques, and more. Upon request, a student may have a CTC mentor, a tradesperson who is trained to counsel aspiring youth in real life skills and trade trends. Preapprentices must have transportation to and from the job site, when they enter the on-the-job (OJT) segment of the CTC program between their junior and senior years of high school. Information is available from the CTC Coordinator, who can be reached at (941) 358-4080 ext. 113.
